God's vision of transforming the world in God's way

While in jail,  John the Baptist began to doubt that Jesus was actually the Messiah, so John sent his own followers to Jesus for re-assurance.

They said: "John the Baptist sent us to ask: 'Are you the one who was to  come, or should we expect someone else?'" (Luke 7:20).

Jesus responded by listing the signs that heralded the coming of the Good News (Messiah): "Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard. The blind can now see, the lame can now walk, those who have leprosy have been cured, the deaf can now hear, the dead are raised, the Good News is preached to the poor" (Luke 7:22).

Jesus encouraged John by pointing to the tangible evidence of the coming of God's kingdom through Himself - the Messiah.

As His children, God expects our lives to be characterized by these authentic signs of our transformation: compassion, mercy, justice and love,  to be demonstrated tangibly.

The hungry are fed, the poor are cared for, and justice is established - this is God's vision of his people transforming the world in God's way.
