The kingdom of God characterized in the Beatitudes would turn the existing order, upside down. The poor, the sick, the grieving, cripples, slaves, women, children, orphans, lepers, and aliens - the least of these - were to be lifted up and embraced by God.
The kingdom of God is a world order where justice is a reality, first in the minds of His followers, then to the wider society through their influence. His disciples are to be the "light of the world" and "salt of the earth" the yeast that livens the whole bread.
Christ calls us to take the "Good News" to the ends of the earth. Christianity is meant to spread, but not through coercion. It must be demonstrated, not dictated. His followers are to embody and proclaim the Gospel that others can see, hear, and feel God's love in tangible ways, giving them the glimpse of God's character and love.
