The crown of thorns is a symbol of the furit of sin that pieced the heart of God

According to the Bible thorns symbolize not sin, but consequence of sin. Remember Eden? After Adam sinned, God cursed the land: "So, I will put curse on the  ground... the ground willproduce thorns and weeds for you, and you will eat plants of the field" (Gen. 3:17-18). Brambles of the earth are the product of sin in the heart.

What is the fruit of sin? Step into our broken world and you will feel few thistles - shame, fear, disgrace, discouragement, anxiety. Have your heart been caught in these brambles? Mine was. And sometimes is!

Jesus' heart, however, had not. He had never been cut by the thorns of sin.  What you and I face daily, He never knew.. Anxiety? Jesus never worried. Guilt? He was never guilty. Fear? He never left the presence of the Father. Jesus never knew the fruits of sin - until He became sin for us...

And when He did, all the emotions of sin tumbled on Him like an abalanche. He felt anxious, guilty and alone. He cried out in prayer: "My God, my god, why have you rejectred me?" (Matt: 27: 46).

These are not words of saint. This is a cry of a sinner!
