According to the Scriptures, God is always chasing
us. God is always following us with His love and mercy all the days of our
life.
Immediately after Adam and Eve had eaten the
forbidden fruit and were hiding, God looked for them. God did not wait for them
to come to Him. (see Gen. 3:9).
This was the beginning of God’s quest to redeem the
heart of man. It is God’s quest to follow us until we follow Him.
Here are some
examples of God chasing man. Moses saw a burning bush. God chasing Moses to the
desert. Jonah escaped from Nineva. God followed him to the ocean. The disciples
soaked and shivering saw Jesus walking on the water. God followed them into the
storm. In Patmos John saw the sky opened. God followed him into exile. The
Samaritan woman who had a heavy heart because of her sinful style. God followed
her through her pain. After three days in the tomb Lazarus heard a voice. God
followed him to the grave. One morning after the crucifixion, when coming to
the shore Peter saw Jesus cooking breakfast. God followed Peter in spite of his
failure.
Ocean, storm, exile, pain, failure, sin, death… no
matter the circumstances our God is a God who follows us.
Have you ever sensed Him following you? Have you
felt His presence through the kindness of a stranger, or through the majesty of
a sunset, or through of a child, or through a commitment of a spouse? I have.
